Dear Tom,

I would like to request a Christmas wish for my one year-old granddaughter, Samiyah.

On May 17, 2013, her father, Paul Jackson passed away suddenly in his sleep at the age of 26 from complication from Sickle Cell Anemia.    Samiyah was born two weeks later on June 2nd.

This has been the hardest thing my daughter, Brittney has had to go through in her life.   I cannot imagine giving birth to a child who will never see or know her dad.    The passing of Paul is still very hard for everyone to deal with, especially his mother, Jean.  It has been just over a year since Paul passed and he still does not have a headstone at his grave site.

My Christmas wish is to have the substantial balance of Paul’s head stone paid for.  He was on disability because of his condition and he did not have health or life insurance.  Paul was laid to rest in a beautiful ceremony attended by hundreds of his friends, family and Iota brothers.

Everyone did what needed to be done to make sure his funeral was lovely.   Jean has been making payments on the headstone, but it is a slow process because she still has another son and her household bills that she needs to pay.

I would be so grateful if you would grant this Christmas wish.   I would love for my granddaughter to be able to see her dad’s headstone in place when she goes to his grave site in the future with her two grandmothers by her side, so we can tell her just how special her dad was.
