Georgine - Front Row - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2015

It was a busy morning under the tents at Lincoln Center today. Georgine, an eponymous luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand launched right here in New York City was debuting her Fall Winter 2015 collection. It was the designers third time showcasing her collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Georgine graduated from the Istituto Europeo di Design only four short years ago in June 2011, and has already seen tremendous success. Her thesis collection was purchased by a prestigious boutique in Antwerp, Belgium thus inspiring her to start her own collection.

Her concept is simple: to create beautiful, chic clothing that every woman will feel great about wearing. She pulls her inspiration from distinct periods in fashion history and then modernizes them for today’s modern woman. Her collection “sets out to blur the lines between casual and formal wear”. Because of this goal her material is sourced from Italy and France where each piece exemplifies only the highest of Italian craftsmanship.

We caught up with Georgine before the show and loved chatting with her about this new collection. Georgine is absolutely gorgeous by the way, when we first walked in she was getting her makeup re-touched and she actually blended right in with the models for the show.

HelloBeautiful: You’re combing 1930’s and 1960’s for this collection; which is a challenge, so what would be the number one thing you want fashion editors to take away from your collection today?

Georgine: I mean, I want them to have a fun approach to it. Like for me when I designed this collection, sure those are my inspirations, but I want to make something for today that you or I can feel comfortable and confident wearing. I wanted you to use a really nice variety of colors. I looked at artist Richard Lindner for my color palette. I want editors to walk away and think to themselves like, “Hey, that is something new, fresh, young, modern.”

HelloBeautiful: Yes, it’s all so very beautiful. What has your day been like today, what’s a typical day like when you have to show at fashion week?

Georgine: Well I went to bed at 4am and then woke up at 5am [laughs]. My really dear friend, Elizabeth actually got us all masks from Sephora, so while I was eating breakfast I had this mask on, which really didn’t work out by the way, because the mask was flopping around all over, but it was really nice intention.

Carrie Pink: Well, she wanted to help keep you a little calm for today [laughs]. If you could dress one celebrity, who would it be?

Georgine: For this collection I would really love to dress Florence Welch from Florence and The Machine. I love her! Emma Watson, Vanessa Traina, even Gwyneth Paltrow.

The thing I loved most about this collection is that Georgine really did take retro styles and combined them with Motown glam and made it her own. This collection is young and fresh, yet sexy and fun!

But the unexpected moment that brought a touch of theatrical drama? The lights went down and the tent went dark. Which is usually an indication that the show is over and the final walk is about to begin. But instead out came model after model, strutting one behind the other in the voluminous raccoon fur jackets I have ever seen, and in the most vibrant colors, pink, purple, turquoise, yellow, red and green. All hail Georgine!
