Winter Storm Leaves Behind Dangerous Travel Conditions as Frigid Temperatures Arrive
As the winter storm moves out, the aftermath continues to cause challenges for travelers across the region. Tuesday could bring difficult travel conditions throughout the day, with frigid temperatures settling in. On the west side, some towns saw over 10 inches of snow, while many others reported 8-9 inches. The combination of snow and ice has left roads slick and treacherous, creating hazardous conditions from downtown Cincinnati to highways, on and off ramps, and suburban areas.
Although the storm has passed, the impact on travel is still being felt as icy patches and snow-packed roads remain a concern. While clouds are expected to stick around, the real danger comes from the rapidly dropping temperatures. By Tuesday night, temperatures are forecasted to dip into the low teens, making conditions even more dangerous, especially for anyone out on the roads.

The next few days will see a persistent cold snap, with highs barely reaching the low-20s and overnight lows near or below freezing. The cold temperatures will keep the threat of icy conditions alive, particularly in the mornings when frost and black ice can form on untreated surfaces. It’s a reminder to stay vigilant and adjust travel plans accordingly, giving extra time for commute and drive safely.
Looking ahead to Friday, another weather system, a clipper, may bring additional snow accumulation to the area, potentially adding up to another inch of snow. Although it won’t be as significant as the current storm, it’s enough to keep road conditions challenging for drivers throughout the weekend.
As always, residents and travelers are advised to check road conditions regularly, bundle up, and prepare for continued winter weather over the next several days. Stay safe and stay warm as the cold grips the region!
