Dwight Howard’s marriage to rapper and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alum Amy Luciani has come to a sudden and dramatic end. Just half a year after tying the knot, Luciani filed for divorce on July 1, citing that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” with “no prospects for reconciliation.” The next day, a mutual restraining order was put in place, suggesting tensions may have escalated behind the scenes.

The couple’s whirlwind romance began publicly in December 2024 when Luciani shared a now-deleted engagement post on Instagram. At the time, she gushed about her love for Howard, praising his faith and presence in her life. “I prayed reallllll deep on a Thursday, not knowing two days later God would send me a Bible-totin’, tattooed giant with the same heart as me,” she wrote.

Howard echoed the sentiment with a smiling post of the two, calling their union #blacklove and claiming he had “prayed for this.” By January 11, 2025, the two were married. Although the ceremony remained private, social media clues, including honeymoon photos and Valentine’s posts, confirmed their new status.

But by July, things had changed drastically.

Amy Luciani, born Amber Rose in Detroit, has built a name for herself as both a rapper and reality star. Beyond music, Luciani is also a philanthropist and author — she runs a charity supporting Atlanta’s unhoused community and wrote a children’s book called Good Touch, Bad Touch aimed at abuse prevention.

Before marrying Howard, she had been in a relationship with her Love & Hip Hop co-star Mazi. Howard, on the other hand, had largely kept his love life out of the public eye following his 2021 split from WNBA player Te’a Cooper.
