Cincinnati Sets Its Sights on the Global Sports Stage with New Regional Sports Commission
Cincinnati is making bold moves to solidify its status as a premier sports destination with the launch of the Cincinnati Regional Sports Commission—a strategic initiative aimed at attracting world-class sporting events to the Queen City.
With recent momentum fueled by the rise of sports stars like Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati has redefined itself as a true sports town. Now, the city is taking the next step—going beyond fandom to the frontlines of global sports hosting.
Led by Executive Director Ben Huffman, the commission is focused on bidding for major events over the next six years, including the NFL Draft, the Rugby World Cup, and even the FIFA Women’s World Cup. These high-profile events are not only expected to draw national and international attention, but also to deliver lasting economic and community benefits.
“Our mission is to bring events that promote healthy lifestyles, inspire community pride, and create meaningful economic impact across the region,” said Huffman.
The commission aims to leverage Cincinnati’s rich sports culture, growing infrastructure, and passionate fan base to create a compelling case for hosting. From Paycor Stadium to TQL Stadium and Great American Ball Park, the city already boasts the venues—now, it’s about bringing the global spotlight to them.

More Than a Game: A City-Wide Vision
The Cincinnati Regional Sports Commission isn’t just about sports—it’s about economic growth, tourism, civic pride, and showcasing all the city has to offer. With the right strategy and support, Cincinnati could soon be the stage for some of the world’s most-watched sporting moments.
Stay tuned—Cincinnati’s biggest wins may still be ahead.
