Talk about a Christmas miracle!

Two Cincinnati residents are celebrating a life-changing holiday surprise after winning big on a lottery scratch-off ticket.

One of the winners shared their story with lottery officials, explaining how they visited the BP on West Mitchell Avenue to cash in some previous winnings. With the proceeds, they purchased additional scratch-offs, eventually grabbing the “Home for the Holidays” ticket over another option.

“I was debating between the holiday ticket and one called ‘Hit it Big,’” the winner said. “Something just said, ‘give me the holiday ticket.’”

After scratching the ticket in their car, the winner was shocked by the result.

“I locked the doors and just sat there for a minute as it registered,” they said. The winner mentioned having to pull up the OH lottery app to see if what they were reading was true… and it was!

The pair of winners will share the $500,000 prize. After state and federal taxes of 28%, their total payout is $360,000, leaving each with $180,000.

The winners plan to use the money to buy a house and invest in property.

The “Home for the Holidays” $10 scratch-off ticket has a top prize of $500,000. According to the Ohio Lottery, as of Dec. 12th, there are still four top prizes left in the game. You think you have a shot?
