Mufasa: The Lion King Roars to the Top of the Box Office in 2025
The new year is off to a roaring start at the box office as Mufasa: The Lion King, Disney’s highly anticipated prequel, takes the crown as the first box office champion of 2025. The film, which delves into the backstory of the beloved lion king, garnered an impressive $23.8 million in its opening weekend, securing the top spot on the charts.
Coming in just behind Mufasa is Sonic 3, the latest installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which continues to prove its popularity with $21.2 million. Despite a strong showing, Sonic 3 couldn’t quite keep pace with the majestic Mufasa in this early box office race.
