Jaafar Jackson is sharing new details about why his aunt, Janet Jackson, was not depicted in the blockbuster Michael Jackson biopic, Michael.
According to Jaafar, Janet may be interested in telling her own story on the big screen. He explained that appearing as a character in Michael could complicate a future Janet Jackson biopic, especially if she wanted to select a different actress to portray her.
LaToya Jackson previously said Janet “kindly declined” to be included in the film and emphasized that the family should respect her wishes. Janet has not publicly confirmed that she is developing her own biopic.
Separate reports claimed Janet watched an unfinished version of Michael and was unhappy with how parts of her brother’s life were presented. However, those claims have not been confirmed by Janet herself.
Despite the questions surrounding Janet’s absence, Michael became the highest-grossing biographical film of all time, earning approximately $1.02 billion worldwide. Jaafar is now preparing to star in an upcoming movie with Will Smith and has also hinted at a possible Michael sequel that would explore more of the King of Pop’s life and the controversies surrounding him.
