The Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Andy Dalton have discussed a contract extension this offseason, with Dalton due to become a free agent after the upcoming campaign.
However, re-signing Dalton isn’t something all Bengals fans are on board with—take a look at a couple of signs fans hung near the team’s training camp.
Here is what the two signs say, in case you have a tough time reading them:
- “Don’t sign Dalton. He sucks.”
- “A.J. [McCarron] to A.J. [Green]. The future is now.”
Of course, these signs came only a few days after Bengals owner Mike Brown made headlines while talking about the extension talks.
According to ESPN’s Coley Harvey, Brown believes Dalton should get acontract comparable to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Dalton has been the quarterback of a team that has made three straight postseasons, but he has come up small in the playoffs each time. Kaepernick, on the other hand, has led his team to three straight NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance.
Cincinnati has a lot of talent around Dalton on offense and a very talented defense.
Given Dalton’s lack of success in big games, whoever hung these signs is of the opinion the team should save its money and not re-sign the quarterback”.
