Kris Humphries got his behind handed to him after posting what many saw as a derogatory tweet against his step-father-in-law-of-72-days, Bruce Jenner, reports the New York Daily News.
Humphries, who was married to Jenner’s step daughter Kim Kardashian from August 20, 2011 to October 31 of that year, posted the tweet after Jenner’s two-hour Diane Sawyer interview on Friday night, where the father of six confirmed rumors that he was indeed transitioning to becoming a woman, the gender he says truly reflects his soul.
Many celebrities from Oprah Winfrey to Ellen DeGeneres to Lady Gaga shouted out their support of the 65-year-old former decathalete via Twitter last night, but apparently not Humphries, who had the audacity to tweet Friday night: “Man, I’m glad I got out when I did. #Gottadoyou”
The pushback was severe and swift, with some calling him “a bad person” and “trash,” according to the Daily News. Humphries issued two apologies via Twitter this morning saying, “I have and always will support Bruce hence #Gottadoyou. Now recognize I was too vague and sincerely apologize for the way this came across.”
Coincidentally, it was during his interview with Sawyer that Jenner noted that it was Kim who was the Kardashian who is the most supportive of him (and that Khloe who had the hardest time with it), and that Kim came around after her current husband Kanye West led her to see the light.
Kim Kardashian tweeted late last night that Bruce was a “hero”:
And although most people do in fact support Jenner’s move, it should be noted that most real life transgender women of color are not as celebrated and in fact experience astronomical rates of real life violence.
In fact, the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs ( NCAVP ) has responded to 14 LGBTQ homicides in 2015 and reports that seven of these were homicides of transgender women of color.
