Actor Anthony Mackie must be taking his relationship cues from Janet Jackson. Although he had revealed that his girlfriend, Sheletta Chapital has been his girlfriend since the two were in grade school, what most people didn’t know was the that the couple have two sons and had gotten married back in December.
The New York Post reports:
The actor married his childhood sweetheart and mother of his two sons in December. They had a small ceremony at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Mackie flew her to the island while he was filming “Our Brand Is Crisis” with Sandra Bullock. They tied the knot in front of about 150 close family members and friends. “It was low-key and super-relaxed,” says a source who attended the beach wedding. “They had a welcome dinner. We golfed and drank. They went on a honeymoon soon after.”
Mackie, 36, and Chapital are both from New Orleans and have known each other since they were 7 years old. The actor has said they have been on-and-off since they were in grade school. They rekindled their romance while Mackie was rebuilding homes in New Orleans after starring in 2009’s multiple Oscar-winning movie “The Hurt Locker.”
There was online buzz about their wedding earlier this year after she changed her surname on Facebook to “Chapital Mackie,” but the couple has never officially confirmed their nuptials.
