Pamela Alexander is the Director of Community Development for the Ford Motor Company Fund. She talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about Ford’s relationship with the 2016 Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage as the title sponsor as well as the annual HBCU Community Challenge contest.

The difference between the Ford Foundation and the Ford Motor Company:

“It’s the philanthropic arm. It’s the part of the company that invests in non-profits. Literally over the past several years, quarter of a billion dollars in non-profits, a lot has gone right into our communities. It’s all about providing opportunities to people. This cruise is a great opportunity to raise some funds so that these kids can go to college,” Alexander said.

Why Ford cares so much about HBCUs:

“HBCUs educate so many of our young people and they play such a key role in preparing people for life. It’s important to support the school and support the kids who attend them. We support organization like yours and the UNCF of course and the Thurgood Marshall Fund,” she said.
