Michael Strahan’s last day as co-host of Live! will be May 13, nearly four months earlier than originally scheduled, People reports.

The news comes on the same day that Kelly Ripa returned to the show after being absent the past week amid an unusual dispute with the Walt Disney Company.

“May 13 is (Strahan’s) last show,” a source told People. “He’ll take the summer off and ‘Good Morning America’ can integrate him early before September, and this will give ‘Live!’ more time to find the co-host. He’s totally fine that. Now he can enjoy his summer.”

The public dispute started last Tuesday when ABC announced Strahan’s impending exit from “Live!” to go to “Good Morning America.” He was set to start on GMA in September.

“GMA” co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos knew of Strahan’s move in advance. But ABC management decided to withhold the information from Ripa. She found out just half an hour before the news leaked out.

Ripa was “beyond angry,” a source said afterward, primarily because she felt disrespected by ABC. Ripa skipped work for the rest of the week, sending the producers scrambling to find fill-in hosts.
