Pamela Hayden, Longtime ‘Simpsons’ Voice Actor, Announces Her Retirement
After more than three decades of bringing iconic characters to life, Pamela Hayden is retiring from her role as one of the most beloved voices in animated television. Best known for voicing Milhouse Van Houten on The Simpsons for an incredible 35 years, Hayden has decided it’s time to hang up her microphone.
In addition to voicing Milhouse, Hayden contributed to the show’s rich tapestry of characters by lending her voice to Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Malibu Stacy, and numerous one-off characters over the years. Her distinct vocal performances helped shape some of The Simpsons’ most memorable moments, and she became a key part of the show’s unique soundscape.
In a heartfelt statement, Hayden shared her mixed emotions about stepping away: “The time has come for me to hang up my microphone, but how do I say goodbye to The Simpsons? Not easily. It’s been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show. … I’ll always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses.”
Hayden’s departure marks the end of an era for The Simpsons, which continues to be one of the longest-running animated series in television history. While her time with the show is coming to a close, her impact will forever be felt through the characters she helped bring to life.
As Hayden moves on to the next chapter of her life, fans and fellow cast members alike will surely miss her contributions, but The Simpsons legacy lives on—thanks in no small part to her unforgettable voice work.
