Tory Lanez Moved to New Prison Facility as Pardon Efforts Gain Political and Public Momentum

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is once again at the center of public conversation, this time following reports that he is being transferred to a new prison facility after an alleged stabbing incident, according to his father, Sonstar Peterson.

Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted in connection to the 2020 shooting involving fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion. However, the case — and its outcome — continues to stir controversy, sparking both legal scrutiny and political involvement.

Among those speaking out is Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who is now advocating for a pardon. Luna is urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to review the case, citing what she believes to be flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. In a public statement, Luna emphasized that “justice should be blind, not driven by headlines.”

Her appeal comes amid a growing online movement that questions the legitimacy of Lanez’s conviction. Supporters have pointed to conflicting witness accounts and alternate theories about the events of that night. Online petitions calling for Lanez’s release have garnered thousands of signatures, with the hashtag #FreeToryLanez continuing to trend across social media.

The movement has also gained traction in the music industry. Drake, a longtime collaborator and influential figure, recently posted a message on Instagram advocating for Lanez’s release — adding celebrity weight to an already heated public debate.

As Lanez is relocated to a new facility, the calls for clemency and a case review are intensifying, adding a fresh layer of complexity to an already polarizing legal saga. Whether Governor Newsom will respond to Congresswoman Luna’s appeal remains to be seen, but one thing is certain — the Tory Lanez case is far from over, both in the courtroom and in the court of public opinion.
