Jamie Foxx Opens Up About Near-Death Medical Emergency: “I’m a Miracle”

In an emotional and deeply personal revelation, Jamie Foxx is finally opening up about the life-threatening medical crisis that nearly ended his life in 2023. The Academy Award-winning actor and musician reflected on the brain bleed and stroke he suffered while filming Back in Action, marking the first time he has publicly detailed the ordeal that left him unconscious for 20 days.

During a heartfelt appearance, Foxx expressed profound gratitude for his daughter, Corinne, whose unwavering support helped him through the darkest moments. “I’m glad God gave me an opportunity to get back so I could see what you’re going to do,” he said, addressing Corinne directly. “Because you’re going to shock the world.”

Foxx recalled the surreal experience of meeting the medical team at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, the facility where he fought for his life. “It was earth-shattering,” he said of seeing the doctors and nurses who cared for him. One nurse’s words stayed with him: “You’re a miracle. Because less than 3% of people that come in with what you had leave here.”

He recounted waking up on May 4, 2023, after nearly three weeks of unconsciousness—only to find himself in a wheelchair. “Twenty days I don’t remember,” Foxx admitted. “But on May 4th I woke up [snaps fingers], and when I woke up I found myself in a wheelchair.”

As he continues to heal and share his experience, fans around the world are celebrating not just the return of a beloved entertainer—but the survival of a fighter.
