In a surprising revelation, rapper Jeezy shared that his verse was originally slated to appear on Beyoncé’s 2013 chart-topping hit “Drunk in Love,” but was ultimately cut by none other than Jay-Z himself. Speaking candidly, Jeezy recalled the moment Hov made the call: “Hov called me and said, ‘I’m taking you off the song.’”

While some artists might take that as a slight, Jeezy admitted that the decision was fair. “I went too hard. I sounded crazy,” he said, reflecting on the verse with humility and a touch of humor.

Jeezy and Jay-Z share a long-standing collaborative history, having worked together on notable tracks like “I Do,” “Seen It All,” and the politically charged anthem “My President.” Despite the “Drunk in Love” cut, there’s clearly no bad blood between the two rap heavyweights.

Meanwhile, “Drunk in Love” went on to become a cultural staple, thanks in part to the undeniable chemistry between Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The power couple recently reignited that spark during Beyoncé’s final show in Paris for her Cowboy Carter Tour, where they performed both “Drunk in Love” and “Partition.”

The show also featured a surprise moment as Miley Cyrus joined Beyoncé on stage for a live rendition of their new duet, “II Most Wanted,” giving fans a memorable cross-genre collaboration.

Even years later, “Drunk in Love” continues to make headlines—this time not just for who was on it, but also for who almost was.
