Kevin Hart & Girlfriend Shop At Barneys
OK, it’s not like we expect Black celebs to stop shopping at Barneys. But comedian Kevin Hart and girlfriend Eniko wasted no time in giving the luxury retailer their hard-earned cash (or credit). For those of you who may have been living under a rock, Barneys is under heavy scrutiny after several Black people–working class and the rich–have come out and admitted to being treated unfairly, also known as “shopping while Black.” Trayvon Christian, an engineer student who saved his money to purchase a Ferragamo belt, was arrested leaving the store because a cop felt he couldn’t afford the item.
Then, after realizing they just don’t know how to treat Blacks, Barneys hired a civil rights expert to teach them human equality. A Change.org petition called for Jay-Z to severe ties with the store. Hov released a statement shaming those who “demonized” him for not hastily breaking his contract.
We understand Jay’s businessman mentality but it seems like some Black male celebs are just out-of-touch with the reality. Damn Kevin, you couldn’t boycott for a week?
