Rap pioneer Big Daddy Kane hasn’t lost a step since his 80’s heyday and if you’ve ever seen him in concert, you’d know that for sure. If you’re in the D.C. area next week, you’ll get your chance as the rap legend is performing all his hits on January 25th at he Howard Theater with a 7-piece band. Kane is recording for a live album release coming up later this year.
“A group of young musicians from New York that I got with a few years ago that I’ve been rocking together for a while so we decided to just put it out to the world since the shows have been great,” Kane told the Tom Joyner Morning Show. “Working with the band is amazing, it just takes it to a whole ‘nother level.”

Kane was profiled on one of the few Unsung shows dedicated to hip-hop artists. On the show, while detailing his musical accomplishments, Kane was said to have had a certain number of women, an amount he says he doesn’t remember. “I’ve had a fun life, Tom,” is all he’ll say now.
He does remember proposing to his wife on The Fantastic Voyage some years back. The couple now has a 1-year-old.
