Cold Weather Advisory in Effect: Stay Warm and Prepare for Extreme Temperatures

A cold weather advisory is in place until Wednesday at 10 a.m., and it’s going to be a chilly few days ahead. With temperatures plunging to dangerously low levels, residents should take extra precautions to stay warm.

On Monday morning, wind chills will make it feel like a bitter -13 degrees, with the cold snap continuing through the day. If you’re heading out for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day march, make sure to dress in layers and bundle up — the wind chill will make it feel like a numbing -10 degrees. For sports fans, the championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame will also be affected by the extreme cold, with temperatures feeling like -3 degrees during the game.

Tuesday morning will bring another round of freezing conditions, with wind chills reaching -7. The cold continues into Wednesday, with morning temperatures hovering around 1 degree and wind chills remaining in the -7 range.

The good news is that temperatures will begin to rise later in the week. By Wednesday afternoon, we can expect a brief reprieve, with temperatures finally climbing above freezing to reach a high of 10 degrees.

During this cold spell, be sure to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Wear multiple layers, protect your extremities with hats, scarves, and gloves, and limit your time outdoors. This is definitely the time to hunker down and stay warm!

Stay safe, and we’ll get through this cold weather together.
