Nick Cannon has never shied away from public scrutiny when it comes to his unconventional family dynamic—and he’s not about to start now. In a recent interview, the entertainer opened up about his parenting philosophy, his growing family, and the advice he’s received from one of the greatest minds in music: Quincy Jones.

According to Cannon, the legendary producer once told him, “You going to get tired of that soon,” in reference to Cannon’s expanding brood. While it may have been part joke, part warning, Cannon took the words to heart—especially considering how much he respects Jones not only as a creative icon but also as a father.

“Quincy Jones is the blueprint,” Cannon said. “He created a legacy and made sure his children were taken care of—he left them something meaningful.”

Cannon, who currently has 12 children with multiple women, including twins with Mariah Carey, continues to make headlines for his nontraditional approach to parenting. Though he’s been widely criticized, Cannon insists his focus is on cultivating and amplifying each child’s individual dreams and passions. For him, fatherhood isn’t about following a societal mold—it’s about being present, supportive, and purpose-driven.

While he says he’s not actively planning for more kids, Cannon also admits he’s not closing the door either:
“I never say ‘never.’”

Love him or judge him, Nick Cannon is committed to his version of fatherhood—one rooted in legacy, love, and, as he sees it, limitless potential. Whether or not more children are in his future, one thing’s for sure: he’s writing his own script.
