The Internet may want Idris Elba to play that next James Bond really bad, but the British heartthrobs says he’s not the man for the job.

“It’s a rumor that’s gotten out of control,” he told ITV’s Lorraine. “But that’s all it is. There’s no truth in it whatsoever.”

In addition to denouncing the reports, the 41-year-old Golden Globe winner said he hates that the casting is so focused on race.

“I’ve always detested the phrase ‘Black Bond’, I just don’t understand it,” he revealed. “We don’t say ‘White Bond’, we just say ‘Bond’, so it suddenly becomes a Black man and he’s a ‘Black Bond’. So I hate that phrase.”

The actor went on to talk about his recent work in the Nelson Mandela biopic Long Walk To Freedom, which features one “the toughest scenes” of his career.

“That was one of the toughest scenes I’ve ever had to play,” he shared about the moment when Nelson Mandela loses his son while in prison. “I was in South Africa millions of miles away from my own daughter and it just brought tears to my eyes knowing that if anything happened to my kid I wasn’t allowed to run back to my kid as soon as possible, that would be heartbreaking.”

The next Bond movie is slated for a Nov. 6, 2015 release.
