Bruno Mars Jokes About $50 Million Gambling Debt, Dismissing Rumors with Humor

Bruno Mars recently poked fun at the ongoing rumors about him owing a $50 million gambling debt. The story, which first surfaced last year during his residency at the Park MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, has circulated ever since. But true to his playful personality, the “Uptown Funk” singer turned the situation into a lighthearted joke on social media.

On Tuesday, January 28, Bruno celebrated hitting a major milestone—becoming Spotify’s first artist with 150 million monthly listeners—by addressing the gambling rumors with humor. Taking to Instagram Stories, he shared a cheeky post: “KEEP STREAMING! I’ll pay off debt quickly,” accompanied by a dancing emoji.

This isn’t the first time Bruno has played with the idea of being in debt. Back in 2024, he tweeted a TikTok video of someone dancing to his track “Die With a Smile,” joking in the caption, “Lady Gaga on her way to get Bruno Mars out of debt.” It seems Bruno knows how to handle the speculation, turning it into a source of entertainment for his fans.

Of course, MGM Resorts International was quick to shut down the rumors when they first surfaced, insisting that Bruno had no debt with them. In a statement, the company emphasized their “longstanding partnership” with the artist and stated that any talk of debt was “completely false.” They added, “Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

Bruno himself addressed the rumors more directly in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal back in June 2024, saying, “Absolutely not! I love the lore that I am a Las Vegas lounge singer in debt to the mob. I can work with that.” He even announced plans to perform at the Park MGM in May and June, keeping the Las Vegas connection strong.

While the $50 million debt rumors remain purely fictional, Bruno’s sense of humor has turned the gossip into a funny and memorable part of his Las Vegas residency experience. So, whether or not he’s racking up any gambling debts, it’s clear that Bruno Mars knows how to keep things light and entertaining.

Keep streaming, indeed!
