Paycor Stadium Renovations Left Out Of Budget Proposal

Ohio Senate Proposes $600M for New Browns Stadium — But Bengals Left Out (For Now)
In a major move that could reshape Ohio’s sports and public spending landscape, the Ohio Senate has proposed a $600 million loan to help fund a new stadium for the Cleveland Browns. The funding is part of the Senate’s updated budget proposal—but noticeably absent from the plan is any direct support for Cincinnati’s Paycor Stadium, despite requests from the Bengals and Hamilton County for $350 million in renovations.
The lack of funding for the Bengals has raised eyebrows among local leaders and fans, especially as the team continues to push for updates to the aging riverfront stadium. However, the budget does establish a new state fund that could potentially be tapped for future stadium projects, offering a glimmer of hope that support for Paycor Stadium may still be on the table.
Beyond sports, the proposed budget includes a significant $600 million increase for public education across Ohio, spread over the next two years. The plan also maintains the state’s flat income tax rate, signaling a commitment to tax stability while making key investments in infrastructure and services.
The proposal is far from final. Lawmakers are expected to debate and revise the budget further before it reaches Governor Mike DeWine’s desk for approval.
For now, the Cleveland Browns appear to be the big winners—but Cincinnati’s turn may not be entirely off the table just yet.
